Single Use Technology Manager, Mechanical Engineer

Ryan Heffner has always wanted to be an engineer. He spent his childhood learning from his father, an engineer in the nuclear power industry, as they worked on projects in the family workshop. Ryan earned both his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina State University He is a licensed professional engineer in the state of North Carolina and is a member of ASME as well as the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering.

As Single Use Technology Manager, Ryan brings energy and focus to this exciting new field, which addresses the changing needs of the biopharmaceutical industry. He is also interested in technical applications that require system analysis, including sanitary applications, refrigeration, and complex vacuum control.

“I like that my job gives me a unique daily challenge and I am able to bring a creative approach to complex analysis systems,” he says. “I enjoy hearing about our clients’ unique challenges and learning about all the new things researchers are doing in the world.”

When he’s not at Equilibar, Ryan enjoys a variety of outdoor activities, including rock climbing and camping. He also volunteers with the non-profit Horse Sense of the Carolinas.

“I enjoy sending clients a well designed product that I have high confidence will out-perform their expectations. It’s my goal to invent something that will change the world in some way.”
