David Reed - Equilibar

David Reed

President, Mechanical Engineer

David Reed, President of Equilibar, places high priority on building a cohesive team that recognizes and mentors talent. “Leading the team at Equilibar has been one of the most rewarding experiences in my career,” he says. “I am a devotee of the concept of organizational health as described by Patrick Lencioni in The Advantage. I have seen the results—we regularly accomplish things here at Equilibar that others won’t even try.”

David has 25 years of experience in the pressure control industry and has been with Equilibar for ten years. He is a graduate of Purdue University where he earned a B.S. in Mechanical Technology with a focus on fluid power and thermodynamics. In spring of 2022, he completed an MBA from Western Carolina University with a focus on entrepreneurship. Before joining Equilibar, David was Vice President of Engineering for Proportion-Air, an innovative leader in electro-pneumatic controls.

Since 2002–when he became leader for his son’s Tiger Den–David served as a volunteer with Boy Scouts of America. Over the years, he has taken scouting groups on extended sailing trips, to the Boundary Waters, the Appalachian Trail, and Philmont in New Mexico.

David also enjoys sailing and exploring the mountains. He is a history buff and is diligently working toward his personal goal of breaking the world record for the muzzle-loading rifle musket. As a single father, David has recently enjoyed watching his children start their own families.

In addition to his duties as President, David’s areas of interest still reach back to his engineering roots. He continues to follow his curiosity in the laboratory and is the project owner for the Advanced Flow Control project. He is part of Richards Industrials strategic team as well as Equilibar’s tactical leadership team.
