Equilibar is happy to be a corporate sponsor of the eighth annual Classic Hikes of the Smokies. This popular fundraiser benefits the Friends of Great Smoky Mountains National Park by offering monthly guided day hikes of varying length and difficulty. The series of hikes includes spectacular vistas, waterfalls, historic sites and more. Money raised goes to the Trails Forever endowment to help maintain the nearly 900 miles of trails in the park.
Equilibar has supported the Friends of the Smokies in previous fund-raising events and is excited about the opportunity to sponsor the Classic Hikes Series.
“Environmental efforts are a primary focus of Equilibar’s community outreach program,” noted Jeff Jennings, Equilibar’s founder and president. “We are especially excited about supporting trails via the Classic Hikes because so many of our team members are avid trail users, whether it’s through mountain biking, hiking, trekking to a camping or climbing site or something else. We all appreciate the unique natural resources of our region and it is a privilege to do our part to protect our natural heritage and ensure that is remains accessible to the public.”
The first Classic Hike of 2018 is Tuesday, March 13th at the Deep Creek area of the park near Bryson City. The hike is an easy 5.5-mile loop and includes stops at three waterfalls. Gracia Slater, two-time member of the Smokies 900-mile club and dedicated trail caretaker, will lead.
